Allahalek Ya Sidi- To Raks Assaya or Not to Raks Assaya
That is my question! Raks Assaya is a women's dance which imitates the dancing that men in upper Egypt do, but is done in a more playful manner. The mens dance is called Tahtiyb (pronounced "tah TEEB"). Tahitiyb is a material arts dance, in which men enact fighting with the long sticks as weapons. I am debating whether to do an assaya routine to "Allahalek Ya Sidi" or not. I tend to enjoy songs with strong Saidi rhythm (Doum Tec Doum Doum Tec) which is why I am so unsure of using "Allahalek Ya Sidi." Bellydancer's out there, do you think "Allahalek Y Sidi" would make a good Assaya routine?
